Dodge Demon hood scoop teaser video
In the continuing saga of Dodge’s latest halo car, the company finally confirmed the upcoming Challenger SRT Demon will have — drumroll please — a huge hood scoop. To go along with the Challenger and Demon names, Dodge dug through its archives and ressurected the “air grabber” -– a nod to the cool hoods of various vintage Mopars from the heyday of muscle machines.
The Challenger SRT Demon will also use two illuminated “Air Catcher” headlights, doubling the headlight inlets from the SRT Hellcats.
Dodge claims the scoop will help drop intake air temperatures by more than 30 degrees over the Hellcats. Of course, colder air coming in means more power, which Dodge likely won’t officially unveil (though isn’t afraid to hint at) until the Challenger SRT Demon debuts at the New York auto show.
While the Demon’s hood scoop is impressive, we’re bigger fans of the scoop Dodge slapped on the hood of the Hemi-powered Dodge Darts found at drag strips at the end of the 1960s. Probably some pedestrian impact issues with bringing that one back, though.
