Clark Park: Preserving a Detroit Community | Go Further | Ford – #FordMotorCompany #news and #Videos

Detroit’s Clark Park could have turned into an eyesore when it nearly closed in 1991, but a group of Ford volunteers help keep it properly maintained.

As a result, Clark Park continues to function as a much-needed community gathering ground. With the Ford Hispanic Networking Group, Ford engineer Roberto Teran gathers 200 Ford employees to work with the park’s local coalition for an annual cleanup. The volunteers work an eight-hour day, providing 1,600 hours of labor. It would take the park years to complete the work that the Ford volunteers do in one day. Clark Park is a place symbolic to Teran who grew up in the area, and it’s important to him that there are safe, green spaces for his children, and children from the neighborhood, to experience.
