1981: No car is more futuristic than the Isuzu Piazza
North Americans knew the Isuzu Piazza as the Isuzu Impulse and, in its second generation, the Geo Storm. The original rear-wheel-drive Piazza appeared in Japan as a 1981 model, and it featured a cool-looking Giorgetto Giugiaro design (much better-looking than some of Giugiaro’s not-as-great designs, e.g., the Hyundai Excel and Daewoo Lanos). Here’s a Japanese-market television ad for the first-year Piazza, showing some intergalactic computer technology in action.
